Schools Programmes : Enterprise
Enterprise & Key Work Skills – KS 3 & 4
An imaginative, fast-moving, work-related learning programme focusing on enterprise capability – innovation, creativity, risk management and risk taking as well as a ‘can do’ attitude. It also deals with financial awareness as well as increasing students’ economic and business understanding.
This programme will contribute to the development of the six personal, learning and thinking skills (PLTS) so as to meet the three national curriculum aims of becoming
(1)successful learners,
(2)confident individuals and
(3)responsible citizens.
We provide you with “mapping tools” to show how our Enterprise programme links to the new 9 point WRL framework and to the other frameworks of PLTS, ECM, PSHE and SEAL.
Whilst not all students will need to be risk-taking entrepreneurs, every student needs to be enterprising with the ability to solve problems and adapt to the changes they’ll face. And a “can-do” attitude will help them with both exams and job applications.
Our programme will give your students:
- an introduction to business and enterprise and why it is so important for businesses to be successful
- a lively overview of the economy
- an explanation about profit and its importance to sustaining businesses and jobs
- an appreciation of not-for-profit and social enterprises
- the experience of enterprise-based challenges to reinforce key life skills of problem solving, team working & communication
- the opportunity to take responsibility for their own actions, engage in real issues and evaluate the outcomes of their decisions
Additionally, your students will learn:
- what qualities employers really value in their staff
- the importance of having a positive attitude
- why taking responsibility for personal development will help prepare students for the world of work
