Schools Programmes : Sixth Form Team Building and Gelling
Sixth Form Team Building and Induction
This imaginative, fast-moving and fun-packed programme is ideal to support Sixth Form induction events. It has been designed to help new students and tutor groups get to know each other and build good working relationships at the start of their shared Sixth Form journey.
This programme highlights the key life skills of team building, communication and problem solving, why these skills will help your students and how they will prepare them for the world of work.
We introduce the range of styles and skills required to create an effective team and demonstrate the importance of the different team roles – Leaders, Thinkers, Workers, and Socialisers. Your students are also encouraged to consider their own role preference, review how they and their team members contributed to the team challenges and how they can use this learning in the future.
Practical team challenges focus on their interdependence with each other:
- working together
- goal setting
- encouraging each other
- and sharing the ‘work’ to reach their team goals.
Greater respect for the hidden talents of other team members is a common outcome.
Our programme will give your students an understanding of:
- the importance of ‘having a dream’ or a vision and setting goals to be successful – deciding what to do after 6th Form
- the importance of feelings and their influence in successful communication and relationship building
- how feelings are linked to needs – to be loved, to belong, for self fulfillment and to make our own decisions
- time management – taking ownership, setting priorities and being organised
- memory techniques – how to improve the memory
- leadership and presentation skills
Additionally, other key elements are woven into this programme including:
- what qualities employers really value in their staff
- the importance of having a positive “can-do” attitude
- why taking responsibility for personal development will help prepare them for the world of work
Overall the programme involves students:
- often developing new friendships and a greater respect for the hidden talents of other team members.
